1. Eggsy is a Gypsy pony, his mother gave birth to him whilst tethered a practice that goes against equine welfare tethering recommendations which state that:
" Very young, old, sick, pregnant or nursing equines should not be tethered (eg. not under 1 year, not in last 3rd of pregnancy, not with foals at foot."
2. We don't know who Eggsy's mother was but we have actually met his sire, a beautiful black and white stallion named Bobby.
3. Eggsy suffers from upward fixation of the patella, locking stifles. It was quite severe when he was first rescued, he actually dragged his hind legs behind him, fortunately it's getting better as he gets older and stronger.
4. The person who purchased Eggsy and subsequently abandoned him, chose him before he was weaned, she paid for him in installments and we're told that she visited him frequently, played with him making a "right old fuss of him". The breeder thought he'd got a good home for this foal.
5. Eggsy spent a few days living in a kitchen.
His owners had arranged for their ponies to go into temporary livery while they moved house, a horse lorry turned up at their home and everyone believed that the ponies had gone into livery. Not all of them had, for some reason they had decided that Eggsy wasn't moving with them. No one really knows for sure what happened to Eggsy between the time of their ponies going into livery and him being found abandoned but horse dung in the kitchen provides a pretty good clue!
